Meet Liz Duerr
DVM, CVSMT
Dr. Liz is an avid horsewoman who grew up in northern Illinois, where she spent all of her free time hanging around the barn and riding any horse someone would hand her. She turned this lifelong passion (some would say obsession) into a career after graduating from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 2016.
Dr. Liz then went on to complete a rigorous internship at B.W. Furlong and Associates, a large sports medicine practice on the East Coast. Upon completion of the internship, she partook in a year-long Sports Medicine Fellowship under the direct mentorship of Dr. Brendan Furlong, a United States Equestrian Team veterinarian, where she became an FEI certified treating veterinarian. In 2018 Dr. Liz was eager to return to her midwestern roots and round out her experience as a general practitioner at Great Lakes Equine. Dr. Liz is also certified in veterinary spinal manipulation therapy (“veterinary chiropractic”) and has successfully incorporated a more holistic approach to her caseload.
Her professional interests include lameness and poor performance issues, injury rehabilitation, nutrition, equine behavior, and integrative medicine. Outside of work, she revels in the chaos of life with her young children, husband, OTTB, and puppy.
