Veterinary-Directed Horse Rehabilitation
Recovery from injury is a slow and methodical process for horses. It can be tempting for owners and trainers to rush the process, but it's important to understand that healing can still not be complete even after clinical signs of injury and lameness have disappeared.
Veterinary-guided rehabilitation and a slow return to normal activities are the most crucial steps in recovery, and are most likely to provide the best possible outcome. The first two to three months in the recovery process are critical for creating a strong base upon which to structure full recovery.
Great Lakes Equine can create a rehabilitation program for your equine companion or athlete. Whether your horse needs stall-rest and therapeutic treatments or several months of hand walking and controlled turnout, we can help you with a rehabilitation plan for on your farm recovery to help your horse regain health and return to work.
